Lawton Public Library Now Offers Digital eBooks and More
Lawton
Public Library has expanded its services with e-books available to
enjoy from the library’s website. Library card holders can borrow
popular digital media anytime, anywhere by visiting
cityof.lawton.ok.us/library.
Users may browse the
library’s website, borrow titles with a valid library card, and enjoy on
all major computers and devices, including iPhone®, iPad®, Nook®,
Android™ phones and tablets, and Kindle®. These digital books can be
read immediately on any device with an internet browser and all titles
will automatically expire at the end of the lending period. There are no
late fees!
“This is the number one request we get”
said Kristin Herr, Library Director. “People know that friends and
family in other cities can borrow e-books but it has been a long time
coming for the Lawton community”. Now individuals can get best-selling
and classic titles from the comfort of their home, even when the library
is closed.
This new service, powered by OverDrive, is
free for users with a library card. To get started enjoying eBooks and
more, visit cityof.lawton.ok.us/library. You can find helpful tools and
information, such as contacting support, by clicking the Help button on
the digital collection.
Because the Lawton Public
Library joined the OK Virtual Library consortium, there are already lots
of e-books available for checkout. Over 65 other public libraries in
Oklahoma participate.
